Bonjour mes amies!
Things have been hoping over here at Maison La Frugal Missus. I took a much needed vacation to North Eastern Utah to visit my brother and sister-in-love and had a wonderful time just relaxing and enjoying the cooler weather.
Now that I am back in the Valley of the Sun and the temperature is rising to the low 100's....I decided to spend a few hours last Saturday garage saling with my Partner In Crime, Tracy.
We hit a few sales, but nothing was really catching our fancy. Then we saw a sign that said Yard/Art Sale!
Tracy did a drive by, but I begged her to stop...I had just remarked that I needed some new art work for the guest bathroom. I wanted to keep the travel poster feel that I currently had but with a different flare.
I had a free to me poster that I picked up a couple of months ago at a sale. The lady having the sale said it had a small tear so I could just take it. Music to my ears! I rolled it back up and put it in my "I will use this one day pile". You know what I am talking about right? Great stuff that you just don't know what to do with but too good to pass up?
Before I get on another tangent...back to the sale. I walked up and there were twenty or more pieces of framed art, all different styles and sizes. The gentleman running the sale, stated he had gotten all of these from a model home subdivision that had sold out and they were in storage. The company told him to take them, get rid of or keep they didn't care. What! I was so overjoyed! So many lovely prints to choose from, so little space to hang them. Then my eyes spotted this amazing picture.
Sigh...It was perfect! I was sure it would coordinate with the other poster I had picked up for free. I happily paid the man the $10.00.
As I started to leave I looked a little closer at the larger pieces of art work to see if I could find a coordinating frame for my free poster. Sure enough, there was another piece with a similar frame and the linen matting. Since it was a bit blemished, I asked the seller if he would take $5.00 for it. He did and I did the happy dance in my head all the way to the car!
Imagine my surprise when I got home to find the free poster matched the framed art perfectly. Don't you just love it when that happens?
There it is in all it's glory! To say I squealed would be an understatement. I was so thrilled that I got to work without even taking any pictures of the steps in between except this one showing my "high-tech" weight system to adhear the poster to the other poster board.
A couple of cans and some rubber cement and this missus is ready to go!
If you look just below the race cars grill you will see the blemish. It's difficult to notice the blemish once it was matted.
For a $15.00 investment I have two great pieces of art work in my guest bathroom!
Wishing you great finds as you hunt for treasures!
